Re-watched any old anime recently?

Postby Prestwick on Wed Dec 17, 2008 11:54 pm

Just wondering to be honest, I've been doing a lot of work for the 'rents in the past week and after exhausting all the Curb Your Enthusiasm DVDs (because one can not have too much Larry David) and all the Bourne films we needed to watch something else before we finished up for the day.

Realised that its been a good six years at least since I last watched the Read or Die OVA and managed to dig out the DVD. Still in pristine condition.

Anyway, put it on and watched it again. Since 2003 when I first watched it, I've watched Read or Die the TV and the Read or Die/Read or Dream manga and also have immersed myself in the whole backstory. Watching it again now, was absolutely superb and I realise now why it grabbed my attention so well as the whole thing is so well produced. The action scenes, the dub, everything is done very well to a tee.

I definitely enjoyed it. So, anyone else dust off any old Anime that they haven't watched in years recently?

I've been re-watching Ranma 1/2 again! it's so much fun and sweet and silly, I always enjoy watching it.

(on a non-anime front, I'm rewatching my buffy box sets too and we've not seen them since the show ended, really enjoying them - although I've just got the S4 and I fear the boredom of Riley might be even worse this time around...but at least we hae Spike to even it out, I 'spose).

I was watching Read or Die: TV a while ago as well, I love it! I'm aiming to rewatch Gundam Wing at some point, and Sailor Moon! [I rewatch Sailor Moon on a regular basis now LOL but only random episodes cause I can never find the episodes in order... or rather I'm too lazeh 8D]

I used to watch random episodes of Ranma 1/2 as a kid! @_@ I need to rewatch that too! Ahhh, too many animes to watch! X_x

I'm getting through Gundam Wing again. Just started this week. <3 It's such a quality show I took for granted when it aired on CN.

I re-watched a few episodes of Monster Rancher recently, in fact. I used to love that show when I was younger.

Re-watched Sailor Moon, which is probably the most old school series I could have done. I believed I could transform when I was younger  The other 'old' anime I watched recently was some Gundam Wing... Ah, good times.

I havent really watched it at the moment, but i havent really seen it before but at the moment i am going to watch the classic: Giant Robo. A VERY OLD ANIME.

But at this moment in time, i am currently watching the original Card Captor Sakura subbed. (so much fun and they ruined the complete ending in the dubbed...)

Are you referring to the series itself or the movie that you own? :?

Nearly everything I watch comes under the 'old' banner,
I'm currently working through all of slayers from the begining.

Having a go at Jushin Liger fron the 80s.

Also watch Ashita no Joe from 1969 from time to time.

Retro has always been the best concerning anime imo.

"Ohhhhhh, were on the road again but we don't know where to,
We got no map and we got no food,
Our friend Lyserg turned out to be a dude,
OH NOOOOO!!!"

Yoh and Zeke are my fav ^_^ Len and Trey and Joco are funny as a team. Have you seen them when they're older?? o.O Len has a kid and you'll never guess who it's with?Image

I rewatched a few episodes of Kodocha. And I've become addicted to the second opening. Turns out it has a little dance to it... so I had alot of fun randomly doing it.
Man, I need to finish fushihi yugi. It was the first anime I watched where a character actually died. Don't want to spoil it, but you know the first to die? he was my fave character and I never quite got over it. Reaaallly need to rewatch it, though I also remember the female lead being annoying.

Glad to see another HikaGo fan, although really can't count it as old. It was current when I was in uni!

Older anime series I'm watching at the moment include Future Boy Conan, Sherlock Hound, Mysterious Cities of Gold (in English, admittedly), Kimba (very sporadically) and Slayers.

Also watching a few late-90s shows like Ojamajo Doremi and Rurouni Kenshin. And the original Dragonball.
