hah, these suggestions are right across the board. It's going to be tough to get any direction from this thread.

I'll put my vote towards some mosh rock too. It's not always my first listening choice at home, but from my experience it always goes down well at parties/clubs/etc. Floor fillers that aren't embarrassing/cheesy.

bands to consider: rage against the machine, korn, system of a down, deftones, smashing pumpkins, etc

coupled with some alternative rock/pop: blur, the cure, chillis, radiohead, pixies, nirvana, foos, etc

and the all the cool stuff in-between: the prodigy, beastie boys, outkast, etc.
