I think the key is to pick a mix of different genres but also to pick party songs which everyone is probably going to know, such as the Macarena or which people can easily pick up a dance to, that way everyone can get dancing and it makes people less shy if everyone is dancing.

I think if you take Moozman's list, and combine it with Hermy81290's, you're pretty much covered for the greatest dance party in history. Hell, you even got Nymphetamine and Shut Me Up on there, could the love be any greater?!

I have a mini-list here of some songs that I couldn't bear to see a party go without.

1) YMCA (Why on earth was this not already on here! You can't possibly have a party without it!)
2) Barbie Girl - Aqua (See above)
3) Any of Gunther's songs, since they all sound the same. (Again, see above.)
4) The Cha-Cha Slide (To get some group dancing going on)
5) Thriller - Michael Jackson
6) Critial Acclaim - Avenged Sevenfold
7) Never Wanted To Dance - Mindless Self Indulgence

Those last 2 are there for completely selfish reasons, but they're still awesome, and I hope someone will back me up on that! ^^ But I think a big part of having a party is finding songs that everyone can get involved in. Face it, no matter what genre of music you listen to, you know the macarena.

Surely a pretty decent idea would to be to play all the cheesy stuff/JPop when the night is young to get everyone happy, having fun, interacting, then progress to more dance style club music when the night is in its prime, ending with some of the slower songs at the end?

If your playing CoF, then boyzone, then Rammstien, then Carmelldansen simultaniously then people wont know wether they are coming or going...

Just an idea though, so feel free to disagree...

No I really don't think CoF is good for a partys or for dancing. Plus I don't like CoF, I was merely suggesting that your can't switch between types of music like that as it would not help the flow of the party.

I personally feel for the main (Prime) of the party it should probably be good dance music like the stuff played at clubs ect..
as It's far easier to dance to.

not clubbing music. J-pop, J-rock stuff like that clubbing music is basically the same beat repeated in all songs and in my own personel opinion should be removed from advertising on the TV. Have you noticed how its "HARCORE ANTHEMS 8" or something but you never see any alternative music even the lesser alternative like 30 seconds to mars or avenge sevenfold. I dont know why as the streotypical clubber is portrayed as a drug taking violent person, I understand that that does not go for all clubbers but it is stereotyped that way.
