Cosplay@October Expo

Postby Ilpala on Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:12 am

We are pleased to announce that advance registrations for this Octobers MCM Expo Masquerade will be opening on Monday 6th Oct and closing on Sunday 19th.
To register please complete the online form that will be available from the cosplay page of the main MCM Expo website. Full rules and guidelines will also be found there.

Advance places are expected to fill up very quickly so we recommend you get your form in as soon as you can, although a limited number of places will also be available on the day as always.

We have some great Prize bundles from UBisoft for 1st-3rd places including Far Cry 2 for the Xbox 360 (released that weekend) and cool Soulcalibur IV goodies as well as prizes like Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex boxsets, DVD’s, Games, and merchandise from KOEI.

On Saturday the Masquerade will also host the first ever Manga Shakespeare Cosplay competition. Full details of which can be found at http://www.selfmadehero.com. If you wish to enter a Manga Shakespeare Cosplay please do so via the entry form there and NOT the MCM Expo masquerade registration form.

A bag drop, changing facilities and emergency repair gear for cosplayers will be available at or near the Cosplay Desk so just come and have chat if you need any help :)

This year the event will be ticketed so if you have friends or family who wish to watch the show make sure they come to the cosplay desk to pick up some tickets.
Additionally keep your eyes peeled for news on ways you can help us out and earn yourself a front row seat to watch the show.

Great stuff! The bag drop would be really, really useful. Pity I have no time left really, I'd have loved to enter the manga shakespeare competition!

Entries open on 06/10/08 and the link made available then.

As there's no form to download and send in, there's nothing to release early, and if people used the web form early their entries wouldn't qualify (and they may end up not getting a place therefore).

Not wanting to clutter up your email box but I have just submitted my form but there was no part of it to fill in about the other members of my group. I hit the submit button and it jumped to the rules and guideline page, I may have not seen a section that told mw what to do about adding the group members and there was nothing to comfirm that the forum had gone through.
I would be grateful if you could confirm that my form went through okay and shall I add the other members of the group detail onto an email with ref pictures at a later date?

Nope you're right - the group details bit isn't crystal clear. The correct procesure is to email through to cosplay@mcmexpo.net the name, date of birth, and characters of other group members, along with music and piccies.

Confirmation emails should go out early this week (how early depends on how knackered Ilpala & I are after work...)

Hi, in Neo it mentioned something about a "Best Prop" prize, but I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere in the guidelines at all.

Is there a category for best prop or was this a mistake?

I've just submitted my form. I just wanted to ask about this, 'I confirm that my costume has not been previously entered into any contest or masquerade run by MCM Expo' I'm ticking this on behalf of my group who haven't been on stage with their costumes before ^_^

I haven't got the details of the skit and audio but once I do I shall send them straight to you Ilpala and GG ^_^

@ SJBonnar: If there is such a prize it's the first I've heard of it! I suppose that means I should go and read my Neo for once...

@ Manga Girl: That's fine- cheers.

Just a quick question...

I assume theres no confirmation email yet? So when it goes back to the rules screen it means its sent?

OH and my group for the Sunday isnt 100% organised yet, all I know is that I'll be on stage even if no one else is xD Is that okay?

And Ill send music + finer details later on ^^

Ilpala and I have not sent out confirmation emails yet, no.

It's not a problem to send group details on later- as long as its at least a week before the event.

I've sent out emails to acknowledge receipt of entries as of 19:00 and we'll hope to confirm entries over the next few days. It depends how knackered Ilpala and I are at the end of the day...

Saturday is already oversubscribed, so entries for Saturday sent in today after 19:00 definitely won't have a confirmed place...

Are there any places available on the actual day???

If there are then im thinking they are also on a first come first serve basis and so what would someone have to do on the day to get a chance of entering (what is the time and Place you have to be to enter?)

This is cos my sister just came from work and entered after 7:00 but really wants to enter!!!!!

There are a handful of places available on the day, but for Saturday you *really* have to be quick.

Don't give up hope yet though...

I thought youd have to be quick  so i was just wandering if there was a specific place (cos its my first expo so i dont really know how it works) you have to go and if you can go as soon as expo opens or if you have to wait until a specific time and therefore line up etc????

Thanks
