Does your school/college/uni have an anime club?

As far as I know, my college doesn't. D8

But, at my secondary school, me and my friends managed to set up an anime club (they get lots of anime DVDs off eBay), and every Monday when school ended, the librarian would let us use the TV and sit around watching it. 8D We watched all of Fruits Basket, we watched Advent Children, and we also had a little watch of D.N.Angel. ^-^ I was in Year 11, so I had to leave, but, at the moment, they're watching xxxHolic, and Azumanga Daioh. ^^

And I've heard that lots of unis have anime clubs~ which is awesome. ^^ I know Bath Uni has one. ;D

Unfortunatly no stupid sunderland university *shakes fist* lol, at college we had a small one which was a lot of fun. We used to watch fruits basket and azumanga daioh too, along with a lot of other dvds my friends had at the time *sigh* good times, good times.....

We have an unofficial one in the corner of the playground XD No just kidding that doesnt count. Unfortunately not. Im sure if any of the chavs found out then we would never be able to sit there in peace watching lets say... Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann [probably imposed by me].. without them trying to barge in and generally be an annoyance. I know my friends sister goes to York uni and they have an anime society.. hell I think most unis do. If they have one for sheep appreciation then Im sure they have room for a little anime. Damn if the uni I go to doesnt have one then I'll just have to make one myself *pictures self watching Macross Frontier in a dark empty room alone because nobody joined- sob- oh woe*

It's how I first came to realize what anime was, and was the first time I watched Fruits Basket. I learnt a lot in the club, but not even a year later, the teacher running the club left.
There hasn't been anything like it since, and now I'm coming to the end of Year 11. I suppose I could try setting up the anime club myself...

So are you gonna be out on saturday like normal, if not make sure to tell me so that i can tell the others and all that. Besides he does feel bad, and we all miss you and we can discuss how we can set it up on that time and such things and i already told esme everything yesterday.

Sadly no our school doesn't have one. I know quite a few people from all years that are into anime though which is good! There's a possibility we could get a rather big club going - however I fear the club would just get abused by chavs ROFL. Chavs are not nice in our school... Plus I'm in Year 11 so there's really no point in applying to start one up.

I doubt the college I'm going to has an anime club either. It doesn't seem like the sort of college that would have one XD Although they DO offer a Beginner's Language course, that's completely different I know but there's a small chance in one of the lessons we might watch an anime XP That's what I did at Leeds Uni when I did a Jap course! [Summer School thing btw, I'm too young to go to uni xD;]

If there's one at the Uni I go to I might attend the anime club. Providing I don't do TOO many enrichment activities - I'd rather do an active enrichment than stay cooped up watching anime because I can always watch anime at home in my own spare time =]

I'm in Derby uni and we have an anime society.
The ongoing series we had running last term was Genshiken, still havent chosen this terms one.

We have a small ofshoot where we meet and discuss manga, though this seems to have died due to lack of organisation when the new guy running it took over, we were ment to be setting up a cosplay arm too, but that didn't happen.

There's a society in the University of Leicester. So that's a big-un. But I can't name it because of the board rules.

My college? No, but I knew I girl that wanted to start a Yaoi club. She even had all the different levels of memberships thought out ^-^. Never happened, though. Hahaaa!

Although there is no club, atleast half of them come to Expo so I can usuallly spot them in the crowds there.

Yeah I used to think i was the only one who watched anime apart from my friends but i was so surprised who watched and how many of them there were. Most of them watched Naruto and Bleach but since then we've watched more anime. A few of them are gamers too so that helped convince them to come to the expo.

Nope, there's no chance of there being an anime club in my school ^^;;;;...the biggest reason for that being that the whole school is full of chavs, so yeah, the club would be bombarded by the chavs causing trouble ><;. Hehe, we sent out posters at my school, saying: "NO, anime is NOT porn - it might be a cartoon for an older audience, but it's definitely not porn, and we won't be watching Pokemon either..." And all the chavs laughed. I managed to convince one guy that, if he watches cartoons like Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, stop criticising the people who like anime, because, in my eyes, anime and young-adult-oriented cartoons like the ones on Adult Swim are more-or-less the same. ^^ And lo and behold, we didn't get any chavs going. But I ended up staying on as a french assisstant for a gap year so I started one 8D I remember when I had to explain what I'd "achieve" with the club to the clubs superviser... lolz I ended up having 2 separate clubs, one where we just watch anime and generally mess around (mostly yr8s and a few from other years, about 20 people in total?)... And surprisingly managed to put together a club for 6th formers who are more serious about drawing anime/manga style =O

The club will fail next year though when I leave, I can't see any other teacher supervising it >.> Unless I can contact the next Japanese assistant before they arrive and blackmail them into doing it 8D

We don't have an official anime club but there are quite a lot of people who like/recognise anime in my school so I've been "hinted at" to form one because I'm in 6th form (eldest).

However, we have a Japanese club where we learn Japanese and that serves as a time where we all converge together and muck around, quote anime references, discuss Expo, etc XD
