I think you'll find that it's one of the most popular Shoujos. If anything, it could do with LESS popularity, and let some of the more original Shoujos shine through

You are going to love Genshiken (you WILL), best manga series I have ever read, ok perhaps not the best (read too many good ones-can't be sure), but certainly one of the most enjoyable (got to love power-otaku Madarame). Just started reading Yankee kunto Megane chan; so far so good.

Right at this very moment, I'm reading an update of k-on. The update is an anthology of work by other manga-kas. I'm going to check out Mushibugyo in a sec, cos it's a new series just uploaded and the art and the summary looks interesting.
